About · Yogyakarta, Indonesia
Hi, I’m Ganis, and I think you’re looking amazing today.
Nine levels so far. Still playing.
Level 1 · Day one
Papua
Driven home from the hospital in a military patrol vehicle called a Garnisun. Shortened, it became my name.
Level 2 · Age two
Malang
Shipped west on the KM Rinjani, five days and four nights, to be raised by my grandparents.
Level 3 · Growing up
On the move
Back and forth between Papua and Jakarta. High school in Malang, at SMA 2 and SMA 3.
Level 4 · 2002
Yogyakarta
Came to study. Found the bridge my aunt, Tante Tiwik, had taken me across in a becak when I was four. It hadn’t changed.
Level 5 · 2010 to 2013
Jakarta
Circle Indonesia, an NGO, then Akubu, a software company, where I met Mas Surya. I owe him a lot.
Level 6 · 2013 to 2025
SoftwareSeni
Back in Yogyakarta. Employee #13, hired as Product Manager for Villalet. General Manager at ninety people, one desk for every six. Director by the end. The full story.
Level 7 · 2021
The long run
42 km around the Kraton, the family car as a water station, the last 11 km after dinner.
Level 8 · 2025
Synetica
Left SoftwareSeni after twelve years. Started Synetica, to test products before anyone builds them.
Level 9 · 2026 You are here
Prove
The year’s theme. Still running, still reading, still uninstalling Mobile Legends.
Continue?
Write to me at ganis@atmawarin.com. I answer most letters, slowly. If it’s about building a product, write to Synetica instead; it’s the same person, but with a calendar.
